ADVANCED PATHWAYS ASSESSMENTS

Ogden School District offers select students the opportunity to skip their grade 7 or grade 8 ELA and/or Math courses. This advanced pathway is only recommended for highly motivated students with excellent skills and conceptual understandings within these disciplines. Skipping a course requires a higher level of effort and additional time commitments on the student’s part. It also has future implications on the types of

courses (especially math) the student will be required to take in order to earn high school graduation credits.

Any student who is interested in entering this pathway will need to complete a district ELA and/or Math assessment for the grade they wish to skip.  These assessments will be administered on the dates listed below. We will offer two sessions at each site (8:30-11:00 and 11:30-2:00) to accommodate students who are interested in taking both the ELA and Math assessments. Students may choose to take the assessment(s) on any of the scheduled dates at any location.

  • Thursday, July 11 - Ogden School District

  • Tuesday, August 6 - Highland Junior High

  • Wednesday, August 7 - Mount Ogden Junior High

  • Thursday, August 8 - Mound Fort Junior High

Please note that the purpose of these assessments is to collect data on student mastery of key standards. Results from these assessments do not determine placement; rather, they will be used to inform decisions and to help create an individualized plan to ensure each student has the necessary foundational skills required to be successful in future ELA and Math courses.
